Question of the week

Question: "How can we recognize the voice of God?"

Answer: This question has been asked by countless people throughout the ages. Samuel heard the voice of God, but did not recognize it until he was instructed by Eli (1 Samuel 3:1-10). Gideon had a physical revelation from God, and he still doubted what he had heard to the point of asking for a sign, not once, but three times (Judges 6:17-22, 36-40). When we are listening for God's voice, how can we know that He is the one speaking? First of all, we have something that Gideon and Samuel did not. We have the complete Bible, the inspired Word of God, to read, study, and meditate on. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). When we have a question about a certain topic or decision in our lives, we should see what the Bible has to say about it. God will never lead us or direct us contrary to what He has taught or promised in His Word (Titus 1:2).

Second, to hear God's voice we must recognize it. Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). Those who hear God’s voice are those who belong to Him—those who have been saved by His grace through faith in the Lord Jesus. These are the sheep who hear and recognize His voice, because they know Him as their Shepherd and they know His voice. If we are to recognize God's voice, we must belong to Him.

Third, we hear His voice when we spend time in prayer, Bible study, and quiet contemplation of His Word. The more time we spend intimately with God and His Word, the easier it is to recognize His voice and His leading in our lives. Employees at a bank are trained to recognize counterfeits by studying genuine money so closely that it is easy to spot a fake. We should be so familiar with God’s Word that when God does speak to us or lead us, it is clear that it is God. God speaks to us so that we may understand truth. While God can speak audibly to people, He speaks primarily through His Word, and sometimes through the Holy Spirit to our consciences, through circumstances, and through other people. By applying what we hear to the truth of Scripture, we can learn to recognize His voice.

Love Phrase of the Day

We spend precious hours
fearing the inevitable.
It would be wise to use that time
adoring our families,
cherishing
our friends and
living our lives.

Trust in the Lord

It's easy to say "In God we trust,"
When life is radiant and fair,
But the test of faith is
only found
When there are brudens to bear.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in thee. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust without a fear. What can flesh do to me? -Pslam 56:3,4

Today learn to profit from your losses. It's no big deal to capitalize on gains....it is noteworthy to advance after setbacks..

On the wings of prayer
Our burdens take flight-
Our load of care
Becomes bearably light.

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22

Strength For The Journey

Nothing but Goodness

Are you in the midst of a difficult situation?
When you have doubts or fears, remember that God is filled with goodness. No matter what the trial, take your heartache to Him. Let Him fill you with his goodness!

"The Lord is Just! He is my rock!
There is nothing but goodness in him!"- Psalm 92:15

Do you know your Identity in Christ?

On Wednesday March 3rd 2010 I did a post on our Identity in Christ. It is very important as Christians to know who we are in Christ, with this knowledge we can know the level of authority we have in him. Below is a continuation of the prior post.

We are:

17. Continually filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.
18. Healed by the stripes of Jesus and free from pain in our body.
19.Standing and acting on the truth of God's Word.
20.Speaking words of faith, which edify and minister grace to the hearer.
21.An Ambassador for Christ Jesus and we are led by the Holy Spirit.
22. Walking by faith and not by sight.
23.A partaker of God's divine nature and have escaped the corruption of the world.
24.Always triumphant in Christ Jesus.
25.The salt of the earth, the light of the world.
26. Victorious over the evil one.
27. Far from oppression and fear; and terror shall not come near us.
28. Physical and mental strength and ability over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means harm us.
29. A tree of righteousness which yields much fruit and we are always prospering.
30. Free from anxiety and care.
31. Strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.

The responsibility is now ours to confess these daily over our lives and to become ready to receive all the blessing of the kingdom.

Have we stopped share the word of God?

THE POEM

I knelt to pray but not for long, I had too much to do. I had to hurry and get to work For bills would soon be due. So I knelt and said a hurried prayer, And jumped up off my knees.

My Christian duty was now done My soul could rest at ease..... All day long I had no time To spread a word of cheer No time to speak of Christ to friends, They'd laugh at me I'd fear.

No time, no time, too much to do, That was my constant cry, No time to give to souls in need But at last the time, the time to die.

I went before the Lord, I came, I stood with downcast eyes. For in his hands God held a book; It was the book of life. God looked into his book and said, 'Your name I cannot find, I once was going to write it down... But never found the time.

Have you stopped to share the word of God ? Each day as Christians we go about doing our daily activities but we have never stopped to share the Gospel with a friend or a colleague. In doing so we have failed to Carry out our purpose. We should always aim to win souls that are lost for the lord . Spreading the Gospel and ensuring that all the people we associate ourselves with on a daily basis or occasionally hears about the lord and the goodness of his love is something that we as Christians are obligated to. This should not be seen or viewed as an activity but as a lifestyle because we were created to serve God in all areas of our lives.

Deep In Love with you

Read

Deep In Love With You Lyrics

here.

Sitting at Your feet is where I want to be
I'm home when I am here with You
Ruined by Your grace, enamored by Your gaze
I can't resist the tenderness in You

I'm deep in love with You, Abba Father
I'm deep in love with You, Lord
My heart, it beats for You, precious Jesus
I'm deep in love with You Lord

Humbled and amazed that You would call my name
I never have to search again
There's a deep desire that's burning like a fire
To know You as my closest friend

Lord, my redeemer, Your blood runs through my veins
My love for You is deeper than it was yesterday
I enter through the curtain, parted by Your grace
Oh, Your the lover of my soul

If you wonder why you Struggle

God wants us to be like Jesus. We are predestined to be conformed to the image of God's Son (Romans 8:29). We are far more useful to God if we learn to put on God's strength while we still have enemies to face. When we go to be with the Lord, we will never have to face another enemy, as far as I understand Scripture. Its now that we need strength! But to be strong, we need to draw strength upon the Lord. But there will be a struggle.

"We wrestle ... against principalities and powers" (Ephesians 6:12). There's no victory without a fight. But you were born with royal blood of a son of God, born to win. "Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world" (1 John 4:4). You have the genetic code from God to be an absolute champion. All you have to do is feed that new life God gave you, and exercise it, by God's grace. That nature has the nature and the potential of God. All things are possible to him who believes (Mark 9:23), but God has given to you a measure of faith (Romans 12:3) ... so use it. Don't listen to the lies of the devil any longer.

Its time to identify with that new man in Christ and not with the weak carnal man who is a slave to the influences of this world. "As a man thinks in his heart so he is" (Proverbs 23:7). You have the power to think of yourself as a new person in Christ, as victorious and as strong. And even if you want to confess how weak you are, remember the Scripture that says, "Let the weak say I am strong!".

Perhaps the strength we gain through struggles in this life will be part of our eternal capacity in God! A worm in a cocoon, as it develops into a butterfly, must struggle and use its wings, trying to break out of the cocoon. In this way, it develops the strength it needs to fly. If one tries to help the developing butterfly out by breaking the cocoon, the butterfly will fall to the ground and die. In the same way, our God does love us, so He will not "break the cocoon" that seems to be hemming us in. He wants us to use our faith. There is a fight of faith, but God is the one who gives us the strength from within to overcome.

In the eyes of Jesus there is the revelation of one who has faced the worst that anyone can know, and come out absolutely victorious. Now Jesus lives in us. Just believe that He lives in you, and you will have power to do what you thought you never could.

I hope these words bring strength to your weaknesses.
